Other Aesthetic
Wrinkles around your eyes, between your brows, and on your forehead not only age your face, but they can also make you look angry or unhappy. The aesthetic professionals at Diamond District Dental in Manhattan, New York, can smooth out your wrinkles using the neuromodulator BOTOX®.
BOTOX can help resolve other aesthetic issues, too, including a gummy smile. If you want to smooth out wrinkles or get a more pleasant look and you live in the Greater New York area — including Queens, Rego Park, Manhattan, and New York City — call or book an appointment at Diamond District Dental today.
Botox Q&A
What is Botox?
Botox is a neuromodulator that’s made from a highly purified form of onabotulinumtoxinA. BOTOX is the only neuromodulator that’s FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet.
Is Botox Safe?
Botox is exceptionally safe and has been used successfully for cosmetic purposes since 1989. The only side effects you might expect are some slight bruising or redness around the injection site.
How does Botox stop wrinkles?
Botox relaxes the dynamic muscles that fold your skin into wrinkles by blocking the nerves that signal those muscles to move. The muscles relax, and your skin then smooths out. After a few days, your wrinkles disappear.
Botox treats:
- Crow’s feet
- Glabellar lines (“11s” between your eyebrows)
- Forehead wrinkles
Botox doesn’t work on wrinkles that other factors cause, such as generalized wrinkling from sun damage or smoking.
Will Botox freeze my face?
The aesthetic professionals at Diamond District Dental inject only enough Botox to quiet down dynamic muscles, not freeze them.
Your muscles should still be able to move enough so that you can make regular expressions. However, they won’t be able to press your skin into wrinkles.
How else can I use Botox?
Botox can treat other wrinkles and aesthetic issues, such as:
- Wrinkles around the mouth
- Bunny lines
- Droopy brows (non-surgical brow lift)
- Orange-peel skin on chin
- Neck bands
- Bulky jaws
Botox can even improve or resolve some medical conditions, such as:
- Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ)
- Bruxism (tooth grinding)
- Bell’s palsy
Botox can be combined with dermal fillers to create a liquid facelift that rejuvenates without any surgery.
How much Botox do I need?
Your exact dosage of Botox depends partly on how deep your wrinkles are. In general, you can expect to receive:
- 0.5 mL for glabellar lines
- 0.6 mL for crow’s feet
- 1 mL for forehead wrinkles
Botox doesn’t spread more than about 1 cm past the injection site.
How long does Botox last?
Botox lasts about three to four months in the forehead and around the eyes, and six months in the jaw.

What Patients Say
They have a lot of new technology that can pinpoint any issues there might be. Overall, it was a great visit. It was great catching up with her and the rest of the staff.
The whole process was quick and painless. Also, have been going to Nelli for years and she does a great job with the cleanings.
